Passenger traffic at Tallahassee International Airport is up 13% year-to-date over 2023, and the busy holiday travel season begins soon. With TLH on track to serve 1 million passengers this year, travelers are encouraged to prepare early for their trips.

Here are some tried-and-true tips to help passengers prepare for a safe and enjoyable air travel experience:

  • Arrive at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure time. TSA projects the three busiest travel days nationwide will be Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday.
  • All liquids, gels and aerosols must be 3.4 ounces or less when packed in a carry-on bag. Certain foods, such as gravy, cranberry sauce, wine, jam and preserves – which are considered liquids or gels – must be packed in a checked bag if they exceed 3.4 ounces.
  • Keep all electronics and liquids, gels and aerosols 3.4 ounces or less inside your carry-on bag for screening at the security checkpoint.
  • Do not pre-wrap any gifts you pack and check with your airline regarding possible checked baggage fees.
  • TLH offers TSA PreCheck for an even easier screening process. Learn more about TSA PreCheck at TSA.gov/PreCheck.
  • If needed, ask for passenger assistance. Trav

Passengers 18 and older must show valid identification at the airport checkpoint to travel. Beginning May 7, 2025, passengers flying within the United State need to ensure their state-issued ID or license is REAL ID compliant. Check with TSA.gov for additional information.

Following these simple tips will make your holiday travel easier and more enjoyable. For more detailed travel tips, please visit the Transportation Security Administration's website at TSA.gov.

"Our priority is to always make traveling through the Tallahassee International Airport as smooth and stress-free as possible, especially as we approach one of the busiest times of the year," said David Pollard, Director of Aviation for the City of Tallahassee. "From our enhanced amenities in the terminal to our convenient parking options, we are committed to ensuring an enjoyable experience so travelers can focus on what matters most - connecting with their loved ones during this holiday season."

TLH travelers are asked to arrive early and please be patient. As always, personnel will be available for customers needing special assistance. Airport food and beverage concessionaires will be available throughout the entire holiday season. TLH customers can also take advantage of the airport's Valet Parking Service and Cell Phone Parking Lot to make their travel experience smoother.

The Tallahassee International Airport is owned and operated by the City of Tallahassee. Commercial flights include non-stop service to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Washington, D.C., with connections to worldwide destinations.
