Seventh Avenue Water Main Replacement
As part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring reliable service and public safety, the City of Tallahassee implemented robust utility and infrastructure improvements along Seventh Avenue between Centerville Road and N. Gadsden Street. The improvements represent a more than $3.3 million investment to strengthen critical infrastructure.
In 2023, sections of the existing sanitary sewer were rehabilitated with a cured-in-place (CIPP) lining, and roadway reconstruction of approximately 80 linear feet of Cherry Street and Colonial Drive were completed to improve the roadway connection to Seventh Avenue.
The water utility enhancements portion of the project began construction in June 2024 and included upgrading approximately 4,500 linear feet of existing water main and replacing water services and existing fire hydrants. This work will result in reduced maintenance activities, improved system capacity, increased fire protection, a safer corridor and continued reliable service for years to come.
With the underground utility improvements completed, the roadway was resurfaced in fall 2025, creating a smoother, safer drive. As part of this last phase of construction, crews milled and paved the road between Centerville Road and Duval Street. Work was complete in early 2026.
This project represents a significant investment by the City toward maintaining and improving its utility systems and infrastructure. We hope you are pleased with the result.
